One of the habits that increases the risk of cancer is sugar consumption. Yes, very shocking and very unfortunately. Widely used in many products, including foods that are considered healthy such as semi-cooked salads dressings, breakfast cereals, and even skimmed milk.
A study showing that sugar might help fuel cancerous cells has recently been published by researchers at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the United States.
“We know since 1923 that tumor cells need more glucose than normal. Our study explains this process and how it could be stopped for ultimately controlling the expansion of tumors” said Don Ayer, a doctor and professor of oncology at Utah University.
Another research published last month in the Journal, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention has revealed that sugar increases the risk of endometrial cancer in women.
A team of researchers, led by Dr. Custodia Garcia-Jimenez of Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, has discovered a key mechanism linking obesity and diabetes cancer: a high level of sugar increases the activity of a gene involved in cancer progression.
I know it’s hard and I haven’t managed to do it myself (because I love sweets) – we need to reduce the amount of sugar we put into our bodies. We don’t even need it, the brain tricks us into eating. Just eat moderately and take care of yourselves, ok?
